Concerto for Tenor Horn

Concerto for Tenor Horn

This concerto was commissioned by Sophie Binet-Budelot, for her first album Adventure, recorded with the Brass Band Nord-Pas-de-Calais (former Hauts-de-France) under the baton of Luc Vertommen. On this concerto, the composer imagines a situation of a war. The first movement describes the position of civilian, victims of an attack (you can hear trombone playing like planes), the second movement Death Ground talk about a picture of the city after the attack (and also refer about the musical form the Ground, with a basso obstinato used all the movement), the last movement describes a battlefield. After a apocalyptique climax, the concerto ended in a powerful positive way, where the soloist is floating under a phrase in morse code played by the band three times.
