Through the Flames was composed for Professor Nicholas Childs and the Black Dyke Band. This exciting ‘opener’ features a variety of soloists and sections within the ensemble. Opening with a fanfare, the music dies away to feature the Solo Horn then followed by the Flugel. After fanfare passages from the trombones and cornets along with decoration from the ensemble, the Euphoniums then reprise the original theme. They then join the rest of the ensemble to take the listener and performer to an exciting close.
