Roger Derongé componeerde zijn Ceremonial festival in 2002 ter gelegenheid van het tiende Valentijnsconcert van Brassband Buizingen. Op vraag van het orkest componeerde hij een feestelijk en spetterend openingswerk. ‘Ceremonial Festival’ wordt gekenmerkt door ritmische en fanfareachtige inzetten. Na de inleiding volgt een opeenvolging van speelse en melodische thema’s die worden ondersteund door heel wat slagwerkeffekten. Roger Derongé is naast leraar kopers en instrumentaal ensemble ook actief als dirigent en componist. Daarnaast kan men hem regelmatig terugvinden als cornettist bij verschillende brassbands waaronder Brassband Buizingen. Roger Derongé a composé Ceremonial Festival en 2002 à l’occasion du 10e Concert de la Saint-Valentin organisé par le Brass Band Buizingen. À la demande de l’orchestre, il a écrit une œuvre introductive à la fois festive et brillante. Caractérisée par ses fanfares et par une rythmique particulière, Ceremonial Festival offre, après l’introduction proprement dite, une succession de thèmes capricieux et mélodiques, soulignés par de nombreux effets aux percussions. Professeur de cuivres et d’ensemble instrumental, Roger Derongé est également actif en tant que chef d’orchestre et compositeur. De plus, on le retrouve régulièrement comme cornettiste au sein de divers brass bands, dont celui de Buizingen. Roger Derongé composed the Ceremonial Festival in 2002, for the occasion of the 10th Valentine’s Day Concert organised by Brass Band Buizingen. He has created an opening number, a commission from the band, which is festive and brillliant in mood. Following the opening, characterised by fanfares and a distinct rhythmic figure there are a number of melodic, capricious themes highlighted by percussion effects. A teacher of brass and instrumental ensembles, Roger Derongé is active as both a band director and and composer. He is also regularly found as a cornet player in several bands, including Buizingen.
