Description

Rameau Revisited takes themes from the operas and keyboard works of the great Baroque composer Jean-Philippe Rameau and recasts them to exploit the various colours of the modern brass band. The two outer movements, Marche and Tambourin are tour de force display pieces for the full ensemble while the three inner movements, Rondeau, La Joyeuse and Danse showcase the horn, cornet and lower brass sections in turn.
 
 
 
 
 
Rameau Revisited is gebaseerd op thema’s uit opera’s en klavierwerken van de beroemde Franse barokcomponist Jean-Philippe Rameau.  Peter Graham heeft ze herwerkt om de verschillende kleuren van een blaasorkest zo goed mogelijk tot hun recht te laten komen.  De twee buitenste bewegingen (March en Tambourin) zijn een krachttoer voor het ganse orkest terwijl de drie middenste bewegingen (Rondeau, La Joyeuse en Dance) op hun beurt de verschillende groepen van het orkest in de aandacht brengen.
